Alia Bhatt Joins Tumbbad 2 After Just Two Meetings

Alia Bhatt has agreed to join Tumbbad 2 after just two meetings with the film’s team, actor-producer Sohum Shah has revealed. He praised the actress for understanding the script quickly and recognising its potential.

In an interview with Variety India, Sohum explained that the team narrated the story to Alia before she read the screenplay. She liked the script and agreed to become part of the upcoming sequel within days.

Sohum praised Alia’s professionalism and understanding of filmmaking. He said she asked relevant questions during their first meeting and carefully considered the project before making her decision.

According to Sohum, Alia read the script within two or three days before meeting the team again. He described the quick agreement as unusual and credited her ability to recognise the screenplay’s strengths.

Although the makers have not revealed details about Alia Bhatt’s character, Sohum indicated that she will play an important role in the sequel. He expressed confidence in the casting choice but kept further details about her character under wraps.

Released in 2018, Tumbbad gained a strong following for its dark atmosphere, folklore-inspired story and exploration of greed. Its growing popularity has helped build anticipation for the sequel.

Directed by Adesh Prasad, Tumbbad 2 will also feature Nawazuddin Siddiqui alongside Sohum Shah. The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 3, 2027. The makers have yet to reveal the full storyline or Alia’s character details. However, her addition has brought fresh attention to the next chapter of the horror franchise.
