Trailer Date Locked for ‘Cocktail 2’ as Makers Tease Music Album with Media Exclusive

The promotional campaign for Maddock Films’ highly anticipated romantic drama Cocktail 2 is shifting into high gear. At a lively media gathering in Mumbai, the makers dropped a major update, confirming that the film’s official trailer is set to launch on May 29, exactly three weeks ahead of its theatrical debut on June 19, 2026.

Rather than a conventional announcement, producer Dinesh Vijan, director Homi Adajania, and co-producer Luv Ranjan chose to turn the event into an interactive musical experience. Attendees were treated to an exclusive preview of two distinct tracks from the album, composed by Pritam Chakraborty, showcasing the contrasting narrative arcs of the film.

A Tale of Two Songs: ‘Mashooka’ vs ‘Tujhko’

The preview highlighted two different dynamics centered around leading man Shahid Kapoor.

The first track, titled Mashooka, features Shahid alongside Kriti Sanon. Shot across scenic backdrops in Sicily, Italy, the song is designed as an upbeat, foot-tapping dance number. It captures a playful, high-energy chemistry between the duo, culminating in a stylized dance sequence.

In sharp contrast, the second track, Tujhko, takes a deeply emotional turn. Sung by Arijit Singh, the soulful ballad introduces the pairing of Shahid and Rashmika Mandanna. The visuals hint at a backstory of college sweethearts separated by time and circumstances, shifting the tone of the event from high-energy celebration to poignant drama.

Let the Audience Decide

In a unique promotional move, the team decided to let the journalists present dictate the rollout strategy. After showcasing both videos, the media was asked to vote on which track should premiere first.

While the room initially erupted into conflicting chants for both songs, the makers streamlined the process by flashing a QR code on screen, allowing attendees to cast digital votes. The results tipped in favor of the upbeat Mashooka, though the team noted that choosing between two strong, contrasting tracks presented a welcome creative dilemma.

Composer Pritam advocated for honoring the vote, prompting Dinesh Vijan to officially declare Mashooka as the first single to hit streaming platforms, closely followed by Tujhko.

Living Up to a Legacy

Positioned as a spiritual successor to Homi Adajania’s acclaimed 2012 hit Cocktail—which famously starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty—the sequel features a completely fresh story, an altered cast dynamic, and a new writing perspective with Luv Ranjan coming on board.

With Tujhko concluding on a title card that locks in the May 29 trailer launch, the countdown to one of this summer’s biggest romantic releases has officially begun.
