Weekend Box Office: Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ Crosses ₹24 Crore Globally, But Trailing Behind the Original

Mudassar Aziz’s latest romantic comedy Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is getting a mixed reception from the audience, but there is a silver lining for the makers. Over its opening weekend, the film showed a steady upward trend at the ticket windows.

Fronted by Ayushmann Khurrana alongside an ensemble cast featuring Rakul Preet Singh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Sara Ali Khan, the comedy of errors wrapped up its first three days with a domestic net collection of ₹17.50 crore, bringing its domestic gross to ₹21 crore.

According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film also managed to pull in a modest ₹3.25 crore from overseas markets. This brings its total worldwide gross to ₹24.25 crore by the end of Sunday.

The Sunday Growth Spurt

The best news for the film came on Sunday, which saw a healthy 34.8% spike in ticket sales. The movie netted ₹7.75 crore across 6,350 shows in India, a noticeable jump from its slower start on Friday (₹4 crore) and Saturday (₹5.75 crore).

Theater occupancy also reflected this weekend growth, jumping from 17.69% on Saturday to a much healthier 26.02% on Sunday. Looking at regional numbers, Chennai led the pack with an impressive 53.5% occupancy across 19 shows. Major metros like Pune and Mumbai recorded 31.8% (168 shows) and 28.5% (468 shows) occupancy respectively, while the Delhi-NCR region maintained a steady 20% across a massive 961 shows. +1

The Shadow of the 2019 Original

Despite the positive weekend trajectory, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do has a steep hill to climb if it wants to match the success of its predecessor. The 2019 original, which starred Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, and Ananya Panday, had a massive opening weekend, hitting ₹42 crore in India—nearly double what the sequel has managed so far.

Where the Cast Stands

For Ayushmann Khurrana, all eyes are on how this film holds up during the crucial weekday test. His previous theatrical outing, Thamma, had a respectable run with a lifetime collection of ₹187.59 crore, though Dream Girl remains his biggest commercial milestone to date.

Meanwhile, co-star Rakul Preet Singh enters this project after the box office success of De De Pyaar De 2, which earned ₹111.77 crore. For Wamiqa Gabbi, this marks her second major theatrical release of 2026, following the massive success of horror-comedy Bhoot Bangla, which raked in ₹249.05 crore globally. Sara Ali Khan, who was last seen in Anurag Basu’s Metro In Dino, will be hoping this comedy gives her a solid commercial win.

With the weekend push out of the way, the film’s ultimate fate now rests on how well it sustains its momentum through Monday and the rest of the week.
