An electric Dodge Charger has been seen on the set of the upcoming Fast & Furious movie, suggesting the main character Dom Toretto could get a new high-speed, battery-powered ride.

Filming for the final instalment of the Fast & Furious movie franchise has begun in Los Angeles, with two previously-unseen vehicles spotted on set.

Just two months after making its global debut, the electric Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept has been caught on location for Fast X, suggesting protagonist Dominic Toretto (played by Vin Diesel) could swap his 1970 Dodge Charger R/T for battery power.

YouTube channels ‘German in Venice’ and ‘Fast Family’ released videos showing the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT electric concept leaving the Angelino Heights neighbourhood of Los Angeles after filming had ended for the day.

One of the most famous cars from the film series, the older Charger purportedly made 900 horsepower (671kW) from its 7.0-litre supercharged ‘Hemi’ V8 – though Dodge has yet to announce how much power we can expect from the upcoming electric Charger ‘eMuscle’ car.

Fast X will be split across two parts, but both movies are understood to be filming at the same time.

In June 2022, images of some of the cars to be featured in the production were caught on camera at Los Angeles Airport, including a Datsun 240Z and a six-wheeled ramp car.

While Bob’s Market – the Toretto family-owned shop featured in the opening scene of 2001’s The Fast and the Furious – will also appear in the final film, Vin Diesel has previously hinted that Brian O’Conner could also make a return. Paul Walker, who played Brian O’Conner, was killed in a car accident in 2013.

Fast X is expected to hit cinemas in 2023.
