Ranbir Kapoor, Ayan Mukerji, Alia Bhatt

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra successfully managed to end Bollywood’s longest-ever dry spell at the box office. 2022 had seen a shockingly high number of flops, with even superstars such as Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar failing to attract audiences to theatres.
Fortunately, the Ayan Mukerji directorial brought back the Hindi film industry’s lost glory as his magnum-opus has been running riot at the ticket windows. The Astraverse film has gone past the Rs 200 crore mark at the domestic box office and is on its way to dethroning The Kashmir Files as the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022.

In a recent interview, Ranbir talked about the overwhelming success of his latest release, implying that it was about time that good energy was back at the movies. He also expressed his gratitude for the support that Brahmastra received from the industry.

“…I think Brahmastra made that promise to the audience that we are gonna deliver you a piece of entertainment and experience at the movies that we all love. We just love that experience of sitting and a collective audience experience of laughter, of thrill, of clapping, of feeling sad, of feeling loved,” the Kapoor lad told Bollywood Hungama.

He further added, “On the first Friday, we also saw so many actors going to theatres to see the film. That was also such a heartwarming site to see because an actor rarely goes to cinemas, he usually asks for a trial or they will see it at the comfort of their home. We felt there was a lot of support because there was so much of negativity towards movies and things going on social media so everybody was just waiting for a good energy to be back at the movies.”

The Brahmastra team will soon start working on the second instalment of the trilogy, which has been titled Brahmastra Part Two: Dev.
