New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, Silo, The Other Two + More
Bridgerton fans rejoice, even though season three won’t premiere for a while on Netflix, we’re still in for a treat with the new prequel series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. The new show is all about the tempestuous marriage between Queen Charlotte and King George. On Apple TV+, Rebecca Ferguson stars in Silo, a show about a mysterious bunker built deep underground to house the last remaining people on the planet after a toxic event renders the rest of the world uninhabitable. And for something lighter, The Other Two is back on HBO, so if you’re in need of topical jokes about the pandemic, influencer culture, show business, and so much more, you’ll need to tune in now that the season premiere has dropped.
On account of King George being mad, we rarely get to see him and his wife, Queen Charlotte interact on Bridgerton. But in Netflix’s new release Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, a six-part prequel to the Regency-era lust-fest we all love so much, we finally get to see what makes their marriage tick. Set a few decades before Bridgerton, the show depicts Charlotte’s rise to power, and the beginnings of the friendships and alliances she makes along with way with friends like Lady Danbury, Violet Bridgerton, and more.
New on Apple TV+: Silo
Based on the trio of novels by Hugh Howey, Apple TV+’s new series Silo is a dystopian story about the last 10,000 people on Earth who all live in a silo that’s built hundreds of stories underground. The series co-stars Rebecca Ferguson, Rashida Jones, Common and David Oyewolo and will consist of ten episodes; the first two will drop this Friday, with the rest airing weekly on Fridays through June.
HBO’s The Other Two, which stars Drew Tarver and Helene York as Cary and Brooke Dubek, the older siblings of a child star, is back for an all new season this week, and the show known for brutally satirizing Hollywood is as sharp as ever. In this new season, Cary is finally getting his come-up now that he’s a co-star of a direct-to-VOD movie Night Nurse (it co-stars Edie Falco and Beanie Feldstein!). Meanwhile, Brooke is trying to reconcile her goal of being a celebrity manager with the fact that everyone she knows is now a “good person” after the pandemic and she’s still as selfish as ever. Here’s hoping they finally find some happiness. And if they don’t, at least their mom Pat (Molly Shannon) is a billionaire now and has room for them in her huge mansion.
