How can we mention and not bring up the cute, little Casper, who haunts a mansion in Friendship, Maine, with his uncles called The Ghostly Trio? The mansion’s owner, heiress Carrigan Crittenden, hires paranormal therapist James Harvey to get rid of the troublesome ghosts. But, things become interesting when his daughter, Kat, bonds with the friendly ghost Casper. Though his uncles try to scare the father-daughter away, Casper wins their hearts and makes them stay. It’s an interesting watch and offers a unique take on death and relationships.
2. Ghost (1990) – Amazon Prime Video, Google Play Movies, Apple TV
This romantic drama stars Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, and Whoopi Goldberg in lead roles. It revolves around the ghost of a banker, Sam Wheat, who sets out to seek revenge and protect his girlfriend Molly Jensen, an artist, from his murderer. He meets a psychic Oda Mae Brown who helps Sam in his quest. The movie is a laughter ride and keeps you engaged till the very end.

The movie follows a nine-year-old Cole Sear, who can see ghosts and has trouble with social interaction because of this. To help her son to improve his social skills, Lynn hires child psychologist Malcolm Crowe. At first, Crowe is dismissive of Cole’s ghost-seeing ability but after an incident begins to believe him. Crowe also helps Cole in his quests to help spirits move to the other side. The twist in the tale comes at the end when Crowe’s truth is revealed. Till then, cosy up and keep guessing who the ghost is (because we ain’t giving spoilers).

Based on a book called The Death and Life of Charlie St Cloud, the movie features Zac Efron, Amanda Crew and Charlie Tahan in pivotal roles. The narrative follows Charlie, a caretaker at Waterside Cemetery, who can interact with the ghost of his dead brother, Sam. He meets Sam every evening to play ball and talk and also befriends other ghosts. Charlie and Sam’s relationship changes after the former meet Tess and begins to fall for her. Amid this, Sam feels his brother is forgetting him. The movie is an emotional roller-coaster and you can’t help but feel sorry for both brothers.
5. The Frighteners – Google Play Movies, YouTube
Frank Bannister, an architect, receives a mysterious gift after he survives a deadly accident, which kills his wife. He is shocked to learn that he can interact with ghosts. He befriends a few friendly ghosts who help him haunt homes. Frank uses his psychic abilities to perform an exorcism and get rid of the ghosts for a fee. However, things turn ugly when he encounters a Grim Reaper who goes on killing people and Frank somehow gets embroiled in those murders. Frank’s ghost friends help him find a solution to his Grim Reaper problem.

The movie features Kevin Costner as Ray Kinsella, a farmer, who lives on a farm with his wife and daughter. Ray had an estranged relationship with his dead father and fears dying without achieving something. One day, a ‘voice’ tells him to build a baseball field on his cornfield. The field later attracts ghosts of several renowned baseball players. His journey of building the baseball field also turns into a journey of self-discovery. The identity of the ghostly voice will also come as a surprise to viewers.
