Many shows and movies made waves throughout the year.
From the long anticipated return of “Stranger Things,” to a controversial premiere of “Dahmer,” Netflix is looking back at the year it’s had with shows and movies.
The company just announced their global list of the most watched movies and shows of the year. They were separated by English speaking and non-English speaking categories.
Here’s how they rank.
Most watched English language movies on Netflix in 2022
The top movie in English on Netflix’s list is “The Gray Man.” According to IMDB, “When the CIA’s most skilled operative, whose true identity is known to none, accidentally uncovers dark agency secrets, a psychopathic former colleague puts a bounty on his head, setting off a global manhunt by international assassins.”
Following behind it was “The Adam Project,” a Sci-fi starring Ryan Reynolds. Rounding out the top three is “Purple Hearts.” The rest of the top 10 are as follows.

Most watched English Netflix shows of 2022
“Stranger Things” took the top spot on Netflix’s list. The show was a hit over the summer and was released in a two part series. Season 4 clocked up 1.87 billion hours of watching between May 22 and Oct. 9, What’s on Netflix reported.
Following “Stranger Things,” “Wednesday” took the second spot. The first season was released in November and tells the story of Wednesday Addams from “The Addams Family.”
Third overall went to the controversial series “Dahmer,” the story of one of the most notorious serial killers in the country — Jeffrey Dahmer.
The show has been accused online of “glorifying” the serial killer.
“Some family members of his victims have spoken out, claiming the series is ‘retraumatizing’ and capitalizes on others’ tragedy without involving them in the project,” Variety said.
