During the promotions of 2 States, a rom-com movie based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel of the same title, producer Sajid Nadiadwala admitted that Dharma Productions chief Karan Johar had initially offered the lead role to Saif Ali Khan. While the Nawab of Pataudi turned down the offer, it was then passed to Shah Rukh Khan and Ranbir, until the makers decided to bring Arjun Kapoor onboard.

After entertaining the audience with his stellar performances in the first two instalments of the Race franchise, Saif Ali Khan decided to step away from the popular franchise, leaving doors open for Salman Khan to step in and take over. While the third instalment left critics and the audience disappointed, the film managed to do decent business at the box office, thanks to Salman Khan’s massive fan following.
6. Talaash: The Answer Lies Within
During an interaction with BBC Asian Network, Kareena Kapoor Khan revealed that Saif Ali Khan had turned down the opportunity to collaborate with her in Reema Kagti’s 2012 crime thriller Talaash: The Answer Lies Within. The film starred Aamir Khan in the lead role and ended up emerging as one of the highest-earning movies of 2012.
