Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday’s Liger, directed by Puri Jagannadh, turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments of 2022. Even before Liger’s release, Puri and Vijay Deverakonda announced their second venture, JGM AKA Jana Gana Mana. However, a source close to the Jana Gana Mana team told IndiaToday.in that the film has been shelved.
VIJAY DEVERAKONDA’S JGM SHELVED AFTER LIGER FLOPS
Written and and directed by Puri Jagannadh, Liger hit the theatres on August 25. The film was rejected by the audience from Day 1.
Taking to IndiaToday.in, a source confirmed that Jana Gana Mana has been shelved. After the poor box performance of Liger, Vijay Deverakonda sat and spoke with Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur about the budget of their upcoming film. After careful deliberation, they decided to shelve the film before embarking on the Morocco schedule of the film.
ALL ABOUT JANA GANA MANA
Jana Gana Mana marks the second collaboration between Vijay Deverakonda and Puri Jagannadh after Liger. As the title suggests, the film is a patriotic film in which he will play the role of a military man.
Speaking about JGM at the launch, Vijay said, “I am grateful for all the love. I feel happy to be here. I feel happy to be telling stories in Hindi and all the major languages. It is an honour when I see this camouflage and wear these boots. I feel proud to do this film. It will be fun to do this movie.”
The film had Pooja Hegde playing the female lead. Jana Gana Mana was slated to release in theatres in 2023.
