What do some of the best comedy movies to watch have in common? For starters, they end up commenting on the state of affairs in our society while being subtle about it. The best comedy movies to watch online have this in common, too. They feature larger-than-life protagonists, making strong statements about life and tackling difficult social issues with sarcasm and wit. Some of the best comedy movies to watch have been hard to come by of late but they do exist — with gusto and wit in the annals of the internet. We have collated a list of the top five best comedy movies to watch online that have everything in between them that makes for bingeworthy entertainment.

Best comedy movies to watch in less than two hours on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney + Hotstar:

1. The Dictator — Netflix, Amazon Prime Video

In one of the most scathing portraits of dictatorship, we follow a dictator played by Sacha Baron Cohen in his career-best role, who has to go to the United Nations to address the assembly. However, things go awry when he is kidnapped along the way. And then there is a threat where he goes out of his way to ensure democracy doesn’t go out of his way.

2. Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm — Amazon Prime Video

If you enjoyed The Dictator, the best comedy movie to watch starring the same actor is this boisterous, all-out wild film that took the internet by storm. The central character of Borat returns from Kazakhstan to America and brings his own culture and its many quirks along the way.

3. Johnny English Reborn — Netflix

What happens when an unintelligent British agent is entrusted to make sure that the country does not want to get into the wrong hands? Into a web of Russian agents, global conspiracy and guns, a mumbling agent finds his way.

4. Kaalakaandi — Disney + Hotstar

People often say India has so much potential to do black comedy movies but often ends up slacking along the way. While we have had some great gems along the way, this Saif Ali Khan-starrer stands out for its stunning portrayal of a man who plans to live life at full volume after he finds out that he has stomach cancer and only one month to live.

5. Grown Ups — Netflix

This movie is a classic case of not receiving great critical acclaim but going on to become a blockbuster, grossing more than triple its original amount. This movie really lacks anything in the way of a plot – it’s just a bunch of guys having crazy fun. If you are in the mood for mindless fun, pour yourself a drink, gather friends and watch this on a lazy weekend and its equally manic sequel, too.
