Before making her way to Westeros, the Australian-born Alcock featured in The School, a horror movie shot in her home country. The School follows a young woman trapped in an abandoned mental institution who is searching for her lost son. As she grapples with her own past, she is tormented by a band of otherworldly children who haunt the halls of the hospital. A young Alcock is a standout as one of the supernatural gang, and the highly original film garnered international attention.

Mother of Dragons Daenerys Targaryan took the television world, and Westeros, by storm in Game of Thrones. Emilia Clarke’s tenure as the tenacious Iron Throne hopeful was a standout for fans.

Clarke has gone on to conquer a number of feature films in the wake of Thrones, including the psychological thriller Voices from the Stone (2017). Voices is a historical horror, taking place in post-World War II Italy. Clarke stars as a nurse tasked with caring for a young man who believes he can hear the voice of his dead mother in stone walls. As Clarke’s character becomes further entwined in the man’s life, she begins to fear the voices may be real.

6/10 Rhys Ifans Makes A Meal Of Hannibal

Hannibal Rising

Rhys Ifans co-stars in the first season of House of the Dragon as Queen Alicent’s father, Otto Hightower. The oft Hand of the King uses his influence to jockey for power and elevate his house’s standing.

Ifans helps create another infamous character in 2007’s Hannibal Rising. Rising serves as an origin story for literature’s most popular cannibal, Hannibal Lecter. Ifans portrays the film’s primary antagonist, a Nazi deserter who murders Hannibal’s younger sister and becomes the target of the young killer’s quest for vengeance.

5/10 Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Cried Mama

Jaime Lannister had one of the most compelling arcs on Game of Thrones. From feared King Slayer, to tragic hero, Coster-Waldau brought the character to life for eight seasons.

Celebrated British character actor Paddy Considine ruled the Seven Kingdoms in season one of House of the Dragon. As King Viserys Targaryen, he attempted to bring peace to Westeros from the Iron Throne, but often lacked the fortitude to make difficult decisions.

Considine brings his acting chops to creepy British-Spanish horror film The BackWoods (2006). Considine stars alongside Gary Oldman, as half of two couples who go on vacation to the Spanish countryside. When the men discover a young girl imprisoned in the woods, they attempt to rescue her. However, the local villagers soon come looking for the girl, and the couples must survive and escape the isolated Spanish woods.

3/10 Sonoya Mizuno Dances To Her Own Beat

Ex Machina

Sonoya Mizuno appears in season one of House of the Dragon as the enigmatic Mysaria. Mizuno is a frequent collaborator of genre-filmmaker Alex Garland, and has appeared in many of his projects.

Most notably Mizuno co-stars in Garland’s directorial debut Ex Machina (2014). The sci-fi thriller follows a young man brought to a remote mansion in order to perform a series of tests on an AI and determine her “humanity.” What begins as a straightforward task becomes increasingly deadly as the man discovers the mansion’s inhabitants may not be what they seem.

Lena Headey played the scene-stealing Cersei Lannister in the original Game of Thrones. Audiences responded to Headey’s portrayal of the arch villain as she jockeyed and smirked her way towards power.

Headey can be seen as the matriarch of the set-upon Sandin family in the first Purge (2013) film. The film, which launched a number of sequels and a television series, features a fictitious United States where all laws and emergency services are suspended for one night of chaos. In the original film, Headey’s family must withstand a home invasion of bloodthirsty “purgers” and survive the night.
