WrestleMania has always married the worlds of pro wrestling and celebrity and WrestleMania 39 will be no different with WWE getting several stars involved.

When WrestleMania debuted in 1985, fans needed to look no further than the main event of the show to realise how heavily involved celebrities would be involved. Television and A-Team star Mr. T teamed with Hulk Hogan to defeat the duo of ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff on that occasion, while boxing legend Muhammad Ali watched on as the ringside referee for the bout.

Over the years, the event has had celebrities at its heart and this may have been the reason the company created a ‘Celebrity Wing’ in its Hall of Fame in 2004 with baseball star and perennial Kane victim Pete Rose inducted.

In the early days of WrestleMania rock stars such as Cyndi Lauper – who was recently portrayed by Becky Lynch in Young Rock – and Ozzy Osbourne accompanied WWE stars to the ring for their matches with later celebrity involvement being more involved with Mike Tyson counting the fall to provide Steve Austin with his first WWE Title and Donald Trump heavily involved in the Battle of the Billionaires at WrestleMania 23.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has now reported that WWE is looking for “a lot of celebrity involvement” for WrestleMania 39 given that the theme of the show is WrestleMania Goes Hollywood. It was also noted that co-CEO of WWE Nick Khan has many Hollywood connections due to his time as an agent in the sports and entertainment fields.
