  • Rachel Shuttleworth’s jaw-dropping designs must be seen to be believed

  • She previously worked five jobs to pay off her debts after struggling to find work

A woman who worked five jobs a week in a bid to pay off her debt has turned her life around, and now runs a business creating portraits of celebrities on people’s nails.

Rachel Shuttleworth spiralled into debt after losing her job in her early 20s and took on multiple jobs to pay it off. But 16 years later, the 41-year-old owns a successful beauty business, creating jaw-dropping designs on nails.

Images show the huge variety of art she has created, from life like portraits of celebrities like Nicki Minaj, to beloved Disney characters, from the classic Pinocchio to newer films such as Encanto.

Other designs show off her intricate work, capturing characters like Chucky and Freddie Krueger in their full terrifying glory, and even Christmas favourites like Elf and Home Alone.

Now the owner of Betty-Rose Beauty Boutique in Nelson, Lancashire, Rachel continues to push her creative boundaries, but it has taken her a lot of hard work to become a successful business owner.

She previously worked five jobs to make ends meet, and struggled to find work after being on maternity leave.

Speaking of the moment her creative spark blossomed into a business, she told The Sun: ‘I had always been quite artistic in school, doing sketches and even artistic projects in Geography.

‘My sister had done nails before, and I just said, do you know what, why don’t I try it?But everyone just laughed at me.’

Despite the nay-sayers, she stared her business as a mobile beautician, before renting a room in a salon and building up to owning her own salon.

To enhance her creativity, she took a portrait course in London, and the results are the incredible designs she has become known for.

Her amazing designs even capture the classic Disney favourites, such as characters from Alice in Wonderland
One portrait can take her around four hours, while a full set can take up to eight
Costs start from £150, which many consider to be a bargain given the time they can take and the complexity of the designs (Pictured – A portrait of Michael Jackson)

‘I would love to have more time’, she said. ‘My best design is Pinocchio, and the Disney designs in general’.

Rachel has big plans going forward, dreaming of opening up a training academy and entering a nail competition to show off her dazzling designs.
