The “Silsila” of Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha’s the alleged love story is known to all. It’s been a long time since the rumors of their romantic relationship hit the limelight, but Big B didn’t say anything related to the same. Birthday girl Rekha has spoken about their relationship in many of their interviews. In a retrospective interview the actress gave in 1978, she claimed to have seen Jaya BachchanAmitabh’s wife was crying while watching Prakash Mehra’s film Mukadar Ka Sikandar.
In an interview with Stardust in 1978, the actress revealed that she saw the Bachchan family watching Muqadar Ka Sikandar through a screening room. She watched them when they had come to see the trial of Mukadar Ka Sikandar. Rekha also said that Jaya was sitting in the front row while Amitabh and his parents were sitting in the back row. They could not see Rekha as clearly as she could see them. During their romantic scenes, she could see tears streaming down Jaya’s face.
The 1978 film was the last collaboration between Rekha and Amitabh. They did not work together until Yash Chopra brought Rekha, Amitabh and Jaya together in Silsila (1981). Further in the interview, Rekha revealed that after the trail of the show, many people from the industry told her that Amitabh will not work with her anymore. She revealed that the actor had made it clear to his producers that he would not be working with her.

There were rumors that this created a rift between Jaya and Rekha, who were friends earlier. Back in the 1990s in an interview with Simi Garewal in the 1990s, Rekha denied saying that there was a rift between the two. Calling Jaya Didibhai, she said he (Jaya) is very mature.
