When Kareena Kapoor Khan revealed why she rejected Hrithik Roshan’s Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai

Kareena Kapoor Khan made her Bollywood debut opposite Abhishek Bachchan in Refugee, which released in June 2000. She got the chance to make her big debut a little earlier with Hrithik Roshan’s Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, which released in January of the same year . She was offered the leading lady role but she turned it down and Ameesha then took the deal. However, the former regrets that she withdrew from the film for her own valid reasons. Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai was a huge success, earned icon status and is still loved by many. Debutants Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel won millions of hearts and reunited in Aap Mujhe Acche Lagne Lage. The romantic musical drama made waves in the film industry back then. In an interview with Filmfare, Kareena Kapoor Khan opened up about leaving the project. The actress claims that she would have become a star for sure, but she is glad that she is not a part of the film as she wants to be known as an actress. She further explained her point of view stating that the film was made for Hrithik Roshan. She said, “His father spent five hours on every shot and close-up of him, while not even five seconds were used on Amisha.” She added that there are shots showing Amisha Patel’s pimples and eye bags on her face .” According to her, Ameesha did not look beautiful, but every frame of Hrithik looked like a dream. Kareena Kapoor Khan claims that she would definitely get a better deal if she was in the film, but believes that the spotlight in the film should be split between the two. Hence, she is glad that she didn’t accept the Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai offer. She is also happy that this has not affected her and Hrithik’s friendship.

On the professional front, Kareena Kapoor Khan will be next seen in The Crew, starring Tabu and Kriti Sanon. The film is produced by Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor. She also has Sujoy Ghosh’s “The Allegiance of Suspect X.” She also has an untitled Hansal Mehta film in the pipeline, of which she has also turned producer.
