Like Sherry Shepherd started to run The Wendy Williams Show last year, the spotlight was on Williams’ health problems as it became clear that she would not be returning to her daytime show. While The Wendy Williams Show was canceled after a full season of not having its star on the air, reports have surfaced in recent weeks of new comments the star reportedly made about being married (she’s not) and more. Now Wendy Williams’ brother has spoken out about the situation, calling it “very upsetting”.
In early August, Hollywood Unlocked revealed a conversation that allegedly took place with Wendy that included news of her recent nuptials. Host Jason Lee noted that when he spoke to Wendy on the phone, she told him she “got married,” which would be surprising news. The conversation was pretty straightforward, with the host recounting:
That interview was quickly followed by her rep saying the marriage comment was “inaccurate” and that the star “probably got carried away.” Now her family is speaking out about the stories surrounding the daytime host that have broken in recent days, including the fake marriage comments.
What Wendy Williams’ brother had to say after the married quotes exploded
It should be noted that the comments Williams claims on the podcast don’t seem accurate about what’s actually going on in her personal life. The former daytime presenter’s brother Tommy confirmed the Page six that his sister did not marry an LAPD officer, also sharing his feelings about his brother’s behavior.
He also noted that the two had been in contact recently and she hadn’t mentioned a husband, before noting that the family thought Williams might not be “healthy” enough after her myriad issues to date and make appearances anymore . According to the report, she may not be around people who have her best interests at heart. Tommy also said it was “really sad” to watch from the outside, also saying:
I’ve been with Wendy since the beginning and she never spoke like that, but I don’t think it’s her fault. The situation is uncertain.
The news comes just over a month after Tommy spoke about his sister in a separate interview. She’s been in the press recently to talk about the cancellation of her daytime show, as well as her health battles, including battling lymphedema. Williams is also going out more often in publicto events including an after party following this year’s Met Gala and more.
Regardless, Tommy was clear he feels that Wendy Williams is “struggling” he previously said he found it difficult because his sister didn’t seem to realize the need or ask for help.
Wendy Williams’ family aren’t the only ones with concerns
Her representative William Selby even said that Wendy Williams is still not 100%. He noted that he was “trying [his] best be done [his] the customer is happy,” even when he doesn’t always agree with where she wants to take her career.
Although her talk show has been canceled, Wendy Williams plans to launch a podcast by mid-August. She’s moving forward with certain interviews and such, but it seems there are concerns about what might happen if the former daytime personality goes into full force too soon.
Her friends and fellow TV hosts are supportive, but with Charlamagne, God shared her hopes that Williams would make a comeback, given her history of success in the TV business. Nick Cannon is also said to have sent support to Wendy after his daytime show was also canceled this year. We’ll be sure to keep you posted if any new host-related news comes out.
