Gummer Starring Saiyami Kher and Abhishek Bachchan hit theaters on Friday. The film is directed by R. Balki. It is a sports drama that revolves around a cricketer named Anina. Saiyami Kher aka Anina wants to play for Team India. However, her dreams are shattered when she meets with an accident. Abhishek Bachchan plays a former cricketer who then pushes her to go for her dream against all odds. It is a very inspiring story with all the emotions in place. Although the film received great reviews from all, the film struggled to win at the box office. The Bridge 2 and Oh my god 2 the euphoria takes its toll. In an interview with us, Saiyami Kher shared many views.
On Gummer facing competition at the box office
We asked her if it was time to release Gummer in theatres, given that Gadar 2 and OMG 2 released a week before. To this Saiyami Kher said, “You know, we were all sitting around the office discussing it. The thing is, as an actor and especially, well, I am, it’s not like a big star or anything, so it’s not mine, it’s ultimately the producer’s and distributor’s call. So I don’t know if, if the way, you know, Bridge 2 and Oh my god 2 doing so well, they were given two weeks and then, you know, then you release it safely. So I guess the producers and distributors felt that this was the right time because there are so many films, there is a backlog of so many films that they felt there was no other date. So in terms of fighting for screen, yes, I’m sure that’s happening, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it reaches a larger audience.”
On the most difficult emotional scenes
For those who don’t know, Gummer contains many emotional scenes. Especially Saiyami Kher has a lot. We asked her which was the most difficult for her to play, she said: “Honestly, there were so many. I used to cry on set all the time. But two of them were very difficult for me. One was the scene when Angad comes and I tell him to leave and then Abhishek Bachchan comes and says how do you want to kill yourself? But what was more difficult than that was the climax of the film. When I hit that shot and broke. Why this one was difficult is because, you know, usually when we like emotional scenes, we try to keep a minimum amount of people on set. It’s so quiet. The actor gets the mood to enter that space. But then, while we were filming this, there were about 40 people on the ground plus about 40 camera crew. There were like in the crowd, about a thousand people. So there was so much noise that it was very distracting to be in my zone. And then it was like I had to hit the punch and then I broke down and, you know, I went through whatever I felt. So for me, that was probably the most challenging of all.”

For gradual growth in Bollywood career
Is Saiyami Kher picky when choosing projects? The actress replied: “I’m not picky at all, but the options that have opened up to me are that I don’t want to choose something just for the sake of it. Like, you know, after my first film, there were a lot of offers where the girl had no value and was like completely irrelevant to the story. So I think those types of roles are what I haven’t done at this point in my career. There are some movies that I do heart completely that I feel like I just want to do that because even if it reaches like 300 people, it’s going to strike a chord with those 300 people.”
