Victoria Beckham unveiled her first ever Paris Fashion Week collection on Friday evening in the City of Lights. She’s released collection on the official New York calendar, as well as the London calendar, but the former Posh Spice has crossed the English Channel to release her Spring-Summer 2023 collection, one the brand is calling an embracing of femininity, an assertion of values, and a celebration of craft.

Can we talk about the tassel-y handbag, named the Tassel Handbag that accompanied many of the looks, first? It comes in three sizes by the way. Giving off the quick appearance of a small furry pet, it’s actually a unique and well-designed bag that will make most women go ogled eyes over.

The first thing the brand wants us to understand is that there is a method to the beauty we saw on the Victoria Beckham runway, there is an order and technique to the silhouettes, in short, there is a purposeful sartorial story that she is telling with her design team. All of this requires that we take time to look and understand. The color palette, the fabric use, the technique chosen, and the accessories are all purposed- and the team was able to do all these things through sensuality.

“The dress is celebrated, in an expression of femininity,” shares Beckham in notes, while “bias and spiral cutting explore a softness, a strength evoked through delicacy. Tailoring is deconstructed, sliced away to reveal the inner canvassed construction of pieces, alongside the body itself. By simple reduction, pieces are transformed, the intrinsically masculine can become inherently feminine through a direct act of cut.”

Sticking to a sorbet pastel- lilac, light pink, powered blue, Tuileries laurel, terracotta, red lipstick, and graphic white and black color palette looks were emboldened and dramatized in the Victoria Beckham way.

The technique is simple yet detailed. Using Spiral bias-cutting, ruffles were applied to emphasize tier lines for deconstructed dresses with a lingerie feel, share the brand. Circular cutting was used to create volume. And, “bonding and over-printing, while processes were applied to entire garments. Canvas-backed gentleman’s tailoring, “x-rayed” through cut-away panels to celebrate the craft was also used.”

Tailored coats and blazers, slip dresses, a transparent orange pants suit, uniquely shaped blouses with matching skirts that show a little midriff, lose fitted pants, tailored dresses that lay perfectly on the body, tassel tops, and keyhole tops are oh-so Victoria Beckham.

To tell this sensual story, the brand used an array of textiles from contour mesh for the tailoring, to signature Victoria Beckham lace, latex underpinnings for the gloves and stockings, to bonded wools with sliced details, georgette, chiffon, silk-jersey and satin, crepe de chine, and cotton denim.

Other accessories included the Victoria Beckham Chain Pouch, which is also possible in suede.

Unveiled at the Val-de-Grâce Church to an ominous aria from Madame Butterfly, made the show, one which she hasn’t had in three years more intriguing. Working with a new design team, it’s something that the brand has been needing, a revamping after past challenges. A new collection in a new city with a decade of being in business, we’re seeing a revamped Victoria Beckham brand and so far, it’s looking good.
