Vicky Kaushal starrer to miss theatrical release; you went straight to OTT – here’s why? [Exclusive]

Vicky Kaushal is currently gearing up for his next film, Govinda Naam Mera, which also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani. The film produced under Karan Joharbanner of Dharma Productionsis directed by Shashank Khaitan from Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania glory last we heard Govinda Naam Mera was gearing up for its theatrical release this year. However, according to news that has surfaced recently, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani the star may not arrive theaters at all, but go directly to OTT exemption.

Govinda Naam Mera to get direct OTT release?

A well-placed source of entertainment news in the industry exclusively informed BollywoodLife that primarily Govinda Naam Mera has been delayed for too long as the project was announced quite some time ago. As such, producer Karan Johar may not want to simply hang on to the Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani starrer just to find a possible theatrical window in the already crowded Bollywood calendar over the next few months where other pending and more anticipated movies are queued up for release.

When Mr. Wow it became Govinda Naam Mera

Not many people know, but director Shashank Khaitan had first set out to make Govinda Naam Mera with good friend Varun Dhawan, with whom he had also made the hits, Humtry Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and the film was titled Mr. Wow at this time. For reasons unknown to most, Varun dropped out of the project, Vicky came on board and Mr. Lele was restructured, restyled and relaunched as Govinda Naam Mera.
