In a recent interview, actor Vicky Kaushal shared that he doesn’t feel like a “star” in today’s world, where stardom is attainable like “instant coffee.” Vicky said that he believes that true stardom takes decades of hard work and dedication. He cited actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Hrithik Roshan as examples of true stars, who have all achieved longevity in their careers.
Vicky Kaushal calls Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan “real star”; speaks on “instant” stardom in digital age
“The accessibility today is such that a person is a star only till he or she is in the news or trending on social media. A real star has to have longevity – like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Hrithik. Earlier in Bollywood, stardom came after decades of hard work and that fame was for life,” told Vicky in an interaction with Spicejet Limelight.
“Today, stardom is easily attainable-like instant coffee. You can even buy followers, fans, ticks and verifications. Today’s stardom is like fast food,” he said. Vicky added that he is grateful for the love he receives from his audience, but he doesn’t feel like he belongs in the same category as the “true stars” of Bollywood. “I am not a star,” he said. “I am just an actor who is trying to do his best work.”
Coming to the professional front, the 35-year-old actor was last seen in Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. He has several projects in the pipeline, including the late Field Marshal Sam Maneckshaw’s biopic Sam Bahadur, which is slated to release on December 1.
