Protect your photos from theft by adding a watermark to them with this quick iPhone trick.

The Photos app on iOS allows you to edit your pictures in multiple ways. You can crop, rotate, add filters, draw, and change their orientation. Another thing you can do is add a signature or watermark to ensure that everyone who sees your photo knows it belongs to you.

Without a watermark, photos you have taken can be re-used by other people passing them off as their own. This is why adding a watermark is essential, especially if the photo is for commercial purposes.

Let’s look at how you can add a watermark using the Photos app.

How to Add Watermark Using the Markup Icon

Technically, the Photos app doesn’t offer a dedicated Watermark feature, but you can use the Signature feature from the Markup tools for the same purpose. The only catch is that you’ll need to use your signature as a watermark, rather than a company logo.

Still, the process is straightforward and can be done on any of your photos. Follow these steps to add a watermark:

  1. Open the photo you want to add a watermark to and tap Edit.
  2. Tap he markup icon, which is shaped like a marker and is in the top-right corner of the screen. You can use the markup feature in multiple different ways.
  3. Select the plus (+) icon at the bottom.
  4. Tap on Signature.
  5. If you’ve already added a signature, it will appear on your screen, and you can use it as a watermark. If you want to add a new one, press Add or Remove Signature.
  6. Tap on the plus (+) icon in the top-left corner to add a new signature.
  7. Use your finger to draw a signature to use as a watermark. Once you’re satisfied, press Done.
  8. The signature will automatically appear on your screen. Drag it around your screen and place it wherever you like. Press Done when finished, and you will be led back to your editing screen, where you will have to press Done again to save the changes you have made.

If you attempt to use the markup feature with a Live Photo, press OK to turn off the Live Photo feature before you proceed. You might want to organize your edited photos into a dedicated Watermark album in the photos app.

Protect Your Photos by Adding a Watermark to Them

The Photos app allows you to add a watermark using the Signature feature from the markup tools. All you have to do is create the perfect signature as your watermark and place it where you need it. Using a markup will ensure your pictures are not misused by other users online.
