Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Sunday confirmed a breach in its customer database. An internal audit has found that the email addresses and management numbers of over 2.96 lakh customers were potentially leaked since July 2017, the company informed in October.
Following up on this case, the company on Sunday said, “Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has been notified by one of its service providers of an incident that may have exposed the personal information of some of TKM’s customers on the Internet. Penetration rate confirmed.”
The Japanese automaker informed that the competent authority CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has been notified.
“In view of this incident, TKM will work with its service provider to further enhance the existing extensive guidelines being followed and is fully committed to avoid any kind of inconvenience to our valued customers. We sincerely apologize for any concern this may have caused our customers,” TKM added.
