Hyderabad: Dil Raju is one of the senior-most Tollywood producers. He has always remained at the forefront when the industry faced any issue. Earlier, he campaigned that only ` straight Telugu movies’ should be prioritized against dubbing films during the festivals.

Now he is going against his own stand by prioritizing the release of `Varasudu’ for Sankranthi in the Telugu states and allocating a maximum number of theatres for it. Tamil actor Thalapathy Vijay plays the lead role in Vamshi Paidipally’s directorial.

Telugu Film Producers Council issued a statement.

Keeping in view the increased cost of production of Telugu films, the welfare of Producers, and to save the Industry, the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce has in its Emergency Meeting passed a resolution that “Only Telugu straight Films should be given preference during the festivals of Sankranthi and Dussehra.”

Earlier, in 2019, Dil Raju made headlines by saying that straight Telugu films should be given priority and not dubbing films, especially during the holiday and festive season. He made it clear that only straight films will be given that priority.

Therefore, the Telugu Film Producers Council requests the Exhibitors to invariably implement this decision and the statement reads, “Only Telugu straight Films should be given preference during the festivals of Sankranthi and Dussehra for screening in Theatres and the remaining may be given to Dubbed Telugu Movies.”

So we have to wait to see if Dil Raju will respond to this and postpone the ‘pakka Tamil papadam as said by director Vamsi Paidipally himself.
