THOUSANDS of people have been enjoying a family festival in Hampshire that raises millions for charities.

CarFest South returned to Laverstoke Park Farm on Friday, August 26 and runs until Sunday, August 28.

Those attending will enjoy a weekend of cars, cooking, celebrities, music, and more.

The three-day festival attracts as many as 60,000 people across the weekend, with around 30,000 attending the farm near Overton each day.

The family festival was created by radio star Chris Evans in 2012, who pitched his vision to events manager Chris Hughes.

Sixteen-year-olds Tiegan Brambal and Jess Waldermar made the five-and-a-half-hour journey from Blackpool to attend the event.

Tiegan said: “We always enjoy it here. It’s a family festival so it’s good for everyone like we’ve come here with my mum and dad and we can all do our own thing and then meet up again. We’re here for the weekend camping, it’s really good to be back on the festival scene after Covid. Yesterday the music and the club CarFest was the best. We hope to be back again next year.”

Returning as the festival’s official roaming reporters are TV stars AJ Pritchard and Curtis Pritchard who will be out experiencing the festival, taking part in workshops, and meeting other celebrities.

Speaking from the festival Curtis said: “It’s mine and AJ’s fourth time here. We come back because of family, love, and Chris Evans dragging us here and we’re 100 per cent coming back next year. What’s special is that it doesn’t have the drama or the trouble of the usual festival. It’s family orientated and it’s such great fun.”

Meanwhile, Sarah Caine and Lindsay Pickard volunteered from Ladies Circle and are selling the great CarFest raffle tickets at the festival.

Lindsay said: “We volunteer every year. It’s been going really well this weekend. People have been really generous. We have prizes such as a one year supply of Costa and b&b stays. We sold about 13,000 tickets yesterday on Friday.”

Also enjoying the fun are the Trigwell, Burch and Lee family who all attended wearing specially made t-shirts with their age on the back.

Marion Burch said: “We’re very excited to be here. It’s my first time, the others have been before and they really like it. We’re camping for the weekend. We loved Tom Walker yesterday and the kids like the MacDonalds- typical! We’ll be back again next year of they let me.”
