In a historic move, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, in a review meeting held on Thursday, decided to scrap personal interviews in Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) recruitment. In this regard, candidates appearing for APPSC from January 2020 will be selected for various posts only on the basis of their test performance.

“From January 1, 2020, interviews for recruitment to all government positions will be abolished. Candidates will be selected based on written tests and merit evaluation,” APPSC secretary PSR Anjaneyulu told TNIE.

CM YS Jagan suggested the release of annual recruitment calendar in the state. After officials informed the chief minister that any notification from APPSC leads to legal tangles, he instructed them to conduct reviews in a transparent and hassle-free manner. He also took keen interest in involving experts from IIMs and IITs in the APPSC recruitment process. “The Chief Minister wants the Commission to ensure that the entire process is conducted in a flawless and transparent manner to avoid legal issues,” the CMO said in a statement.
