Rishab Shetty’s Kantara has been dominating the box office and since its release, the film has been consistently earning big bucks. The thriller became the second highest-grossing Canadian film of the year. After its super successful run in theaters, Rishabh’s film has created a lot of controversy due to its OTT release. Yes, you read that right! Thaikkudam Bridge, a Kerala-based group recently claimed that the song Varaha Roopam used in the film featuring Risabh is a copy of their song Navarasam. They threatened to take legal action against Amazon Prime Video. After Thaikkudam Bridge’s legal action, the OTT platform removed the song from the film and also announced the same on its social media.
A few months ago, Thaikkudam Bridge shared a post on social media that read, “We would like our listeners to know that Thaikkudam Bridge is in no way, shape or form affiliated with Kantara. Hence, the inevitable similarities between our IP Navarasam and Varaha Roopam in terms of audio is a gross violation of copyright laws.’

A few days ago, Thaikkudam Bridge shared another post which read, “Amazon Prime has removed the plagiarized version of our song ‘NAVARASAM’ from the movie KANTARA. Justice prevailed! Thanks to our lawyer: Satish Murthy and our mentor Mathrubhumi @mathrubhuminewstv for their unlimited support. Thank you to our Musician fraternity, fans and media who have expressed their sincere support in the fight for rights.’ Kantara is a trend of entertainment news after its release on the big screens.
Fans reacted to the new version of the Varaha Roopam song and here’s what they had to say.
