Lalit Modi has been in the news ever since he announced his romantic relationship with Sushmita Sen. The couple has been subjected to brutal trolling online. While both Sushmita and Lalit slammed intellectuals and others for questioning their relationship, the IPL founder once again mocked the masses for showing more interest in his love life instead of the country’s ongoing burning issues. The businessman shared a cartoon that shows a comical representation of a common man ignoring issues like retail inflation, gas cylinder price spike, Indian rupee falling against the US dollar and giving extra attention to Sushmita and Lalit’s relationship as some entertainment news. “I guess I’m causing controversy – but seriously this way,” he captioned the post. A few weeks ago, Sushmita hit back at those who called her a ‘gold digger’ after the news of her meeting Lalit Modi went viral. Addressing the ‘gold digger’ comment, Sushmita said she prefers diamonds and buys them for herself. “I dig deeper than gold…and I’ve always (famously) preferred diamonds!! And yes, I still buy them!! I love the support with all my heart, my well wishes and loved ones continue to extend. Please know that your Sushi is ABSOLUTELY FINE,” she wrote on Instagram. Lalit had earlier slammed those trolling him for his friendship with the Bollywood actress and former Miss Universe. He also rebuked those who called him a fugitive after he left the country following his suspension by the Indian cricket board over his dealings with the IPL and was subsequently embroiled in several other litigations, most involving the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

He added that when he became an official in BCCI, it had only Rs 40 crore in its coffers, which swelled to Rs 47,680 crore when it was banned in 2013. He also asked the media not to call him a ‘fugitive’. as he has never been convicted in court and also urged his fans to show him some respect considering that he was the brain behind the successful launch of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
