Sunny Deol is finally speaking

As the Independence Day weekend approaches, Bollywood is set to witness a major clash at the box office. Two of the most awaited films are slated to release on the same day. Gadar 2 and OMG 2 will clash on 11th August 2023. Both the films have huge fan base and one wonders which film will do well at the box office. After much speculation, Sunny Deol, who is headlining Gadar: The Katha Continues sequel to the 2001 release Gadar, has finally opened up about the Oh My God 2 starrer Akshay Kumar. Talking about Gadar 2 clashing with OMG 2, Sunny Deol recalled how Gadar fared better in 2001, releasing alongside Lagaan. Gadar: Ek Prem Katha turned out to be the biggest blockbuster of all time in competition with the Oscar nominated film Lagaan. The actor revealed ahead of the premiere of the action drama based on communal riots in India, Pakistan’s Lagaan division has more weight in terms of fanbase. Even then, it was the biggest clash at the box office between Ghadar and headliner Aamir Khan. Ever since it was announced that Gadar 2 and OMG 2 will release on the same day, the audience has been eager to know what the makers think about the competition. In an interview with Aaj Tak, Sunny Deol was asked to comment on the clash. The actor admitted that there was competition when Ghadar and Lagaan were released. At that time people were on the side of Aamir Khan playing the lead role but Sunny Deol didn’t think much and with a positive thought he moved forward as if he will see what happens. Post release Gadar: Ek Prem Katha performed phenomenally compared to Lagaan. He admitted that he has not seen Lagaan but says it is a very good film. Right now, referring to the advance booking, Gadar 2 is getting a positive response compared to Oh My God 2. Gadar: The Katha Continues has already sold over 30,000 tickets on day 1. The film is expected to have a grand opening similar to that of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan. On the other hand, Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 has also had a favorable advance booking report. However, the ticket sales of Sunny Deol’s film are more than Akshay Kumar’s.
