After literally years of waiting, the official announcement of the third movie in the Hera Peri franchise happened last month. The film stars the famous trio of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal in the roles of iconic characters Raju, Ghanshyam aka Shyam and Baburao Ganpatrao Apte respectively. Shetty has written a long note expressing his happiness about getting the green light for the third film in the series, called Hera Pheri 4.
Suniel Shetty on Hera Pheri 4: “Like all good things, this one took some time”
In a LinkedIn blog post, the actor wrote: “So Hera Pheri 3 is finally happening! Looking forward to being back on set with Pareshji and Akki (Akshay). Like all good things, this one took some time, but it’s a relief to finally have an answer to this question! Movies are such a big part of our culture, yet not many people understand what goes into making a movie. Aside from creative challenges, the business model and needs of the film industry make it as challenging as any.”
While working out the process of making a movie, Shetty added, “But let’s just say having a good script, a bunch of actors and a director is literally just the starting point. There is the financing of a movie. They are usually studios or production houses that invest their own capital. Their teams assess the viability of a project before deciding on the budget.”
Speaking of his own understanding of the complex process of filmmaking, Shetty concluded to say, “33 years and 125 films later, I still haven’t quite got it, but I’m getting better at it.”
titled, Hera Peri, the first film released in 2000 and directed by Priyadarshan. The sequel, titled Phir Hera Pheriwas directed by the late Neeraj Vora and was released in 2006. Hera Pheri 4 is directed by Farhad Samji.
