Jaipur: Besides subsidies up to Rs 2 crore or 15% of the production cost, the Rajasthan film tourism policy also looks at setting up a film city, an institute to train the aspiring youth in various skills in the field and promoting Rajasthani language movies.
As per the policy document, the film city, which has been included in the service sector, will be entitled for viability gap funding. The project will also be eligible for customized package where taxes and other benefits could be extended on favorable conditions.
Similarly, the policy also talks about setting up a film institute for making skilled manpower available for the industry to ensure the growth of the ecosystem and popularity as a locale for movies.
“The state government will coordinate with the government of India for opening a branch of the Film and Television Institute in Rajasthan, so that aspiring talented youth of the state can be trained,” it said. The skilled manpower will include technical staff, crew members and other eco-system actors.
Apart from that Rajasthani students receiving training at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata will be given annual scholarship of Rs 50,000. The maximum number of students for both the institutes will be 10 each year, the policy mentions.
For encouraging and incentivizing the production of films in Rajasthani language, a separate policy has been compiled. As per the document, Rajasthani films will be allowed to reimburse state GST deposited with the government.
As per the policy, films, TV serials, reality shows, web series, and documentaries will be eligible for the subsidy only after 30 days of shooting in the state. It is mandatory for the production houses to give due credit to the state government of the tourism department in the film.
