The City of Adelaide is set to host a new four-day annual fashion festival in October called ADL Fashion Week (AFW).
The event, convened by the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA), will include activities, entertainment and free experiences for shoppers of all ages at the Rundle Mall between October 6 – 9. The program has been developed in collaboration with industry experts spanning the fashion sector, city operators and event partners.
AEDA MD, Ian Hill, said this has been a “huge year” as some of the biggest Australian and global brands have invested in the city.
“Rundle Street has welcomed Australian designer favourites like Carla Zampatti, Viktoria & Woods and Assembly Label, all of which contribute to the ever-growing retail sector in the heart of Adelaide with more to come on the horizon.”
The event launch starts with a ticketed lunch at the Fishbank featuring key South Australian designers followed by an intimate dinner with Scott Faulder, head of product development at R.M.Williams will take live Q&A at the Sol Rooftop, SkyCity.
“RM Williams is a homegrown, internationally recognised brand, and I look forward to sharing industry insights over an intimate dinner at Sol Rooftop.”
On Saturday, a series of immersive workshops called ‘Slow Lounge Saturday’ will be held in North Adelaide presented by Fashion Est and the South Australian Fashion Industry Association (SAFIA).
Other programs include Rundle Street Up Late on Friday and a collaboration with this year’s Adelaide Film Festival with the premiere of ‘Fashion Reimagined’ at Palace Nova Cinemas on Sunday.
