Introduction:

The story revolves around Anbu (Siva Karthikeyan) who is a school teacher and lives with his father Ulaganathan (Sathyaraj). Jessica from Cambridge joins the same Anbu school and he falls in love with her. But Ulaganathan hates the British as his ancestors were enslaved by them. Likewise, Jessica’s father hates the Anbu because he is Indian. How does the Anbu win Jessica’s heart and his father shape the rest of the story?

What’s new?

Shivakarthikeyan makes a good debut in Telugu and leads from the front. Maria Ryaboshapka makes an impressive debut and fits her role perfectly. Acting wise she is quite good and will go a long way in her career. The production values of the film are very good as the village and surrounding areas are created quite well. The dialogues need a special mention as they elicit great laughs throughout. The camera is also decent. The editing is appropriate and the film has a cheerful score.

Coming to the director, same as his previous film, although there is nothing special about his story, the way he has filled the film with good fun makes things work. The way he narrates key plot elements demonstrates his talent. Just like Anudeep Jathiratnalu’s latest film, one of the biggest strengths of Prince is the abundance of entertainment that is thrown at regular intervals. Although the plot is thin, the way the director has written the comedy sequences elevates the film completely.

The film is funny which entertains the audience. Comedians carry the entire film on their shoulders. All the characters in the film do a fun job and keep the momentum going through the first half. The one-liners and the way the plot is told help the film.

What is not?

The plot is predictable and there is nothing special about the storyline. The problems of the villagers and how the hero falls in love with a girl from another country and wins her love, the types of episodes have been featured in many movies in the past.

Verdict:

Prince is a cool entertainer whose forte is comedy. Although the plot is predictable, the film is filled with fun at regular intervals. Finally, this is the kind of movie where one has to abandon logic and enjoy the entertainment on display.
