Belton, Texas — Miss Student Foundation, Shayden Spradley, was named Miss Mary Hardin-Baylor 2023 on Saturday, October 22, at the annual Miss MHB pageant held at WW Walton Chapel. Spradley is a junior transformational development major from Belton, Texas. She is the daughter of Bobby and Mindy Spradley. Spradley is involved in the Student Government Association, the Student Foundation, and Hope for the Hungry. Her personal platform is “Providing Community Connections to Special Needs Families.”
The reigning Miss MHB, Samantha Cardenas, crowned Spradley at the end of the evening’s competition. Also recognized were fourth runner-up Jessica Yorczak, Miss Nursing Student Association; third runner-up Yanelle Licona, Miss Hispanic Student Association; second runner-up Jenna Kurburski, Miss Gamma Sigma Epsilon; and first runner-up, Ella Stockton, Miss Sound Minds.
Several other awards were given out during Saturday’s event. Miss Remschel Hall, Madalyn Georgens was named Best Talent of the Night for her performance of “Never Enough” by The greatest showman. Miss Student Government Association, Katieana Amponsah won Best Evening Gown, Miss Independence Village, Kenedee Pladies was awarded Best Interview and Miss Student Foundation, Shayden Spradley was recognized as Miss Congeniality.
The Miss MHB pageant recognizes young women who demonstrate self-confidence, personality and inner beauty. Each of the evening’s 18 contestants represented a campus or dorm organization. All contestants participated in individual interviews, a group dance number, a talent show and an evening gown walk. In addition, women were invited to speak on their individual platforms, highlighting issues of particular concern to them.
