It is the latest version Bloody Dad Starring Shahid Kapoor, Ronit Roy, Rajiv Khandelwal, Sanjay Kapoor, Diana Penty and more. What’s new?
Shahid Kapoor! Mainly Shahid but we have to give credit to the rest of the cast which consists of Ronit Roy, Rajiv Khandelwal, Sanjay Kapoor, Diana Penty, Vivan Bhathena and others. Ali Abbas Zafar’s directions will keep you hooked and on the edge of your seat. Talking about Shahid, his portrayal of Sumair is simply awesome and effortless. Shahid sinks his teeth into the character and moves you to the inner core. His Sumair is kind, sensitive, mischievous and BLOODY! He has a nuanced performance in Bloody Daddy. You can feel the wheels turning in Sumair’s mind as she tries to tip the scales in her favor throughout the film. Ronit Roy as Sikander, the drug lord is awesome. It’s naturally funny and also creepy, though it retains its darker side until the end. Sikander is also a businessman apart from being a drug lord. The actor’s balanced performance will never let you take your eyes off him. Sanjay Kapoor and Mukesh Bhatt make an amazing duo and bring a new twist full of great gags that will leave you reeling.
Watching Rajeev Khandelwal on screen is a treat for his fans. His scenes with Shahid Kapoor are a treat for all action lovers. Diana Penty is an honest cop on this case. Vivan Bhathena plays Ronit’s younger brother in the film and you would like to see more of him. The heart and soul of the story is Shahid Kapoor as the father. His emotions and his helplessness, yet his sensitivity and awareness tug at your heartstrings. The actor is setting the bar higher than ever. Bloody Daddy also has humor in it, which comes as a surprise. But thankfully it’s subtle and not forced. The punches are thrown in casual conversation, but they hit well. The action in the film is nothing OTT and thank God for that. It’s realistic, crisp, and a little gory, but hey, that’s the genre’s fault.
What is NOT?
Nothing really. The pacing of the movie is slow as poison, but honestly it’s not a big deal. In some places, however, the pace one can feel slows down, but then speeds up again. It could have been trimmed a bit, but even that is debatable.
BL Verdict:
Bloody Daddy deserves multiple viewings. Even though the remake era in Bollywood is bringing down the standards, Blood Daddy does not disappoint at all. Instead, he takes you on a roller coaster ride that by the end of the movie will have you bawling and eventually getting you back in line for another ride. Shahid Kapoor is ace, Ronit Roy is awesome and Rajiv Khandelwal is amazing! It goes with 4.5 stars.
