WASHINGTON – The National Retail Federation has announced the five finalists for its Next Generation Scholarship, the organization’s flagship scholarship competition.

The scholarship, first established in 2014, is for students from a variety of academic backgrounds who have demonstrated strong leadership skills, have previous retail experience and want to make an impact.

The 2023 finalists are Clay Lute, LIM College; Megan Marr, LIM College; Olivia Meyer, Kent State University; Hiral Patadia, Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising; and Lauren Schmall, Indiana University.

“The NRF Foundation is honored to recognize the top five finalists for the Next Generation Fellowship,” said NRF Foundation Executive Director Bill Thorne. “These individuals demonstrated incredible passion, ingenuity and creativity throughout the competition, and we look forward to celebrating their success next month at the NRF Foundation Honors.”

Finalists were selected from among 10 semi-finalists based on video interviews conducted with NRF staff. The final round will include interviews with the NRF Foundation Board of Directors to determine the ultimate winner.

The top recipient will receive a $25,000 tuition scholarship. The other four will receive a $10,000 tuition scholarship. The winner will be announced at the NRF Foundation Awards on January 15 in New York.
