Saurabh Shukla confesses he “felt a jolt” after Shamshera flopped : Bollywood News

Saurabh Shukla has made a significant impact on Indian cinema with his brilliant acting skills over three decades. Be it a funny cop in Barfi or a powerful politician in Raid, he has proven his versatility in a wide range of roles. For a section of the audience, Saurabh Shukla is a synonym for a good and successful film. However, it was not the case with the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Shamshera, which was released last year. Speaking on the same note, Shukla recently recalled feeling a jolt after Shamshera performed poorly while opening up on making “some tough choices” in his career.

Saurabh Shukla confesses he “felt a jolt” after Shamshera flopped

It all happened during his interaction with Indian Express. When asked about his favourite aspect of his current career phase, Saurabh responded that he finds the “realism” portrayed in contemporary films to be the most enjoyable. He asserted, “I don’t even feel that I have spent such a long time here that I can make a difference. There have always been people who work well and those who don’t.”

The veteran actor explained, “Even today if you look at it in totality, when it comes to choices of stories and how one chooses to act, then we are moving more towards naturalism or realism. It is a good time for actors because now in one film you have all the shades to play — you can be funny, humorous, quirky, sad, dramatic — and I personally like this trend very much.”

Adding further, the Satya actor stated that there was a point in his career when a few of the movies he worked on were not released. He mentioned that he “felt a jolt” when his recent major film, Shamshera failed to perform well at the box office. He said, “There are so many films that I have done which are not known to people but while doing the film I had great fun. And later when I watched the film, I was very happy with myself that I chose that film. But then there was something in the film that didn’t work and the film did not reach people. It is part of the game at the end of it.”

Before concluding the conversation, the 60-year-old actor spoke about the tough choices he has had to make as an actor, and how people often praise him for his work. He shared this story during a flight journey, where he met several people who recognized him and complimented his work. However, it was the fan who acknowledged his difficult choices and appreciated them, which left a lasting impression on Shukla.
