Regina Cassandra and Nivetha Thomas have teamed up for their upcoming film Saakini Dhaakini directed by Sudheer Varma. The two actresses are currently on a promotional spree and often interact with the media. During their recent interview, Regina dropped a tongue-in-cheek joke about men and left her co-star Nivetha in splits.
Comparing the men to Maggie, Regina said she knows a joke about boys but is hesitant to tell it. After thinking for a few seconds, Regina decided to give it away. “Abbayilu, Maggi …rendoo two minutes lo aipotharu,” she said, meaning “Boys and Maggi noodles only take two minutes”. Niveta, who was sitting right next to her, couldn’t hold back her laughter at her ambiguous joke.
Saakini Dhaakini is an adaptation of the Korean film Midnight Runners. The film is the story of two students at a police academy and how they bust a gang of human traffickers. The Korean action-comedy was released in 2017 and featured two actors in the lead roles. But the Telugu remake will feature two leading ladies Regina Cassandra and Nivetha Thomas.
Regina has worked in Telugu and Tamil films and the recent Hindi OTT series Rocket Boys and Shoorveer. She believes that the audience, which is becoming more open to good content, is the driving force behind the various regional films crossing over across India. For her, who has worked in various industries, witnessing this integration and bridging of gaps is an experience in itself.
Meanwhile, Regina has a full calendar for the year with releases lined up in Hindi and South. She has an OTT series Hawks, Raj & DK’s Farzi with Shahid Kapoor and Fingerprint S2 in the pipeline.
