R&Q Insurance appoints Jeffrey Heyman as non-executive chairman

R&Q Insurance Holdings Ltd (LON:RQI), the leading global specialist non-life insurance company focused on program management and legacy insurance businesses, has announced the appointment of Jeffrey (Jeff) Hayman as non-executive chairman of R&Q, effective immediately.

Jeff’s extensive experience in the industry makes him well placed to lead the Board as Non-Executive Chairman. He has spent almost 40 years in the insurance industry with long positions at The Travelers and American International Group, including as CEO of Global Consumer Insurance and President and CEO of AIU Far East Holdings. In addition, Jeff recently served as a board member and committee chair of Zurich Insurance Group Ltd.

Following Jeff’s appointment, William Spiegel will assume the role of Group CEO and Alan Quilter, R&Q’s current CEO, will work exclusively with the US and UK/Europe program management teams before retiring at the end on December 2023

William Mirror, Group CEO, commented:

“As we announced last year, we have begun a search for a non-executive chairman in order to have a governance structure that is more in line with market best practice. In Jeff Heyman, we found an outstanding candidate given his highly relevant experience, which includes board roles in the US, Europe and Asia, as well as executive and leadership roles at AIG and Travelers. I am excited to work closely with Jeff and look forward to his contributions to the Board.

As a co-founder, Alan has contributed to the growth, evolution and success of R&Q over the past 30 years. Most recently, he has been instrumental in the expansion and development of our flagship program management business. On a personal level, I highly value Alan’s partnership, cooperation and experience. I am delighted that he will remain with us until the end of 2023, ensuring a smooth transition before his well-deserved retirement.”
