The film features never-before-seen footage and personal photos, as well as intimate scenes with his closest peers, family and friends, including Wendi Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Glenn Hughes, Vinny Appis, Lita Ford, Rob Halford, Sebastian Bach , Eddie Trank and Jack Black as they bring viewers into the life of one of rock’n’roll’s true heroes and one of rock’s most beloved figures.

Presented in theaters worldwide by Trafalgar Releasing and BMG on Wednesday, September 28 and Sunday, October 2, tickets for Dio: Dreamers Never Die go on sale Wednesday, August 24 at 10:00 a.m. EDT at diodreamersneverdie.com.

“We are thrilled to partner with BMG and Wendy Dio to bring Dio: Dreamers Never Die to theaters worldwide,” said Kymberli Frueh, senior vice president of programming and content acquisition for Trafalgar Releasing. “Ronnie James Dio has and continues to influence heavy metal. This cinematic event will take fans on a big screen journey into the creative and personal life of this remarkable frontman.”

Ronnie James Dio, who died of stomach cancer in 2010, reigns as one of the most influential rock artists of all time and one of the greatest vocalists of all time. With an illustrious recording career spanning the 1950s to the 2000s, the documentary traces his trajectory from sideman to singer-songwriter and frontman for not one, but three, internationally acclaimed multi-platinum selling rock acts: Rainbow, Black Sabbath and DIO. Famous for popularizing the “devil horns” hand gesture that is now synonymous with hard rock and heavy metal music, Dio was known for not wavering in the pursuit of his rock and roll dreams and continues to influence a new generation of musical artists. His fans around the world remember him not only for his immense talent, but also for his kindness, which led to millions of dollars being raised for cancer research in his memory.

Dio: Dreamers Never Die is solely financed by BMG and directed by Don Argot and Damian Fenton (on John DeLorean, Believer, Last Days Here), produced by Don Argot and Sheena Joyce for 9.14 Pictures and executive produced by Wendy Dio for Niji Productions and Kathy Rivkin Daum for BMG.

The film’s co-directors Don Argott and Damian Fenton said: “People who have the conviction, talent and heart of Ronnie James Dio are in short supply these days. It’s refreshing to share his inspiring story about believing in yourself and chasing your dreams. Longtime DIO fans, it’s incredibly humbling to bring Ronnie’s journey to the screen and we can’t wait to share it with audiences.”

Rhino/WMG will release the Dio: Dreamers Never Die soundtrack in the fall.
