Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani director Karan Johar is celebrating the success of his family drama and romance. The film crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office. There is also a good trend in the second week. Karan Johar has given several interviews. One of them goes viral. The director talks candidly about how the film mafia label has affected him. We know he’s been brutally trolled since 2020. It all started after Kangana Ranaut called it a film mafia following Sushant Singh Rajput’s shocking demise in 2020. She said the late actor was cornered in the industry by bigwigs, and pointed to Karan Johar as someone who tried to sabotaged the Chhichhore actor’s career.
Karan Johar talks about the impact on his mother
Karan Johar spoke to Sucharita Tyagi about how being called a film mafia affected his mother. He said that his mother Hiroo Johar literally broke down when she saw the media demonizing Karan Johar. He admitted that the hate-mongering had taken a toll on her physical and mental health. He said she would watch TV channels and read vile things online. Karan Johar was quoted as saying, “She was watching TV anchors who were screaming and shouting and saying the most horrible things like me, demonizing me for some reason.”
Karan Johar said he felt naked after the attack
Karan Johar has said that he feels naked after the extensive and intense trolling on social media. However, he did not take anyone’s name. But he said he had to be tough for his own mother and himself. He was quoted as saying, “Abhi toh kapde utar di hai sabne. Abhi kya chupana? Kisske ladna? (I have nothing to hide anymore) Everyone has invaded your life anyway, made assumptions. They don’t know the person I am.” He said that people instantly made this assumption that he was this malevolent big man who controlled the casting of actors in the industry. He said that no one knew how each producer struggled to cast for his film.

The actress took to her Insta stories and slammed Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani as a daily soap type of film. She told him to retire from the film industry. She posted, “Shame on you Karan Johar for making the same film for the nth time… calling yourself the flag bearer of Indian cinema and constantly regressing it…. Don’t waste your money, times are not easy for the industry, retire now and let the young directors make new and revolutionary films.”
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has been a smashing success overseas. Fans loved the senior cast of Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi. Other actors who were appreciated apart from Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt were Thota Roy Chowdhury and Churni Ganguly.
