Legendary Hollywood actor Robert De Niro’s grandson Leandro De Niro is no more. The 19-year-old reportedly passed away on July 2. Leandro’s mother, Drena De Niro, the daughter of Robert De Niro and his first wife, Diane Abbott, broke the news of his son’s death through a post on social media. The cause of his death has not yet been revealed. Leandro De Niro, son of Drena De Niro and Carlos Rodriguez.

On Monday, July 3, Drena De Niro shared a photo of Leandro De Niro on Instagram, writing a heartbreaking note remembering her son. “My beautiful sweet angel. I loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly. You were my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and true in my life. I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you,” Drena wrote.

Robert De Niro expresses grief over Leandro De Niro’s death
In another separate Instagram post, Drena De Niro dropped a note with the words of Robert De Niro. “I am deeply saddened by the death of my beloved grandson Leo. We are very grateful for everyone’s condolences. We ask that we be granted privacy to grieve the loss of Leo,” the note read.

Members of the film fraternity have expressed their condolences to Leandro De Niro, mourning the loss of the young man. Actor Anupam Kher, who worked with Robert De Niro in the film Silver Linings Playbook, wrote: “So sorry for your loss dear Drena! This news is devastatingly sad. I will pray for his soul! Om Shanti!” Celebrity model Naomi Campbell wrote: “Drena heartbroken for you such a duo, I can’t imagine how you must feel. May God cover you and hold you in his arms, at this very sad time and loss… I love you, I am always here for you.” American singer-songwriter Lenny Kravitz wrote: “Dear Drena, I send my deepest condolences to you and family. It’s all beyond words right now. I love you.
The investigation into the death of Leandro De Niro
In his short life, Leandro De Niro has worked in two Hollywood films namely A Star Is Born and Cabaret Maxim. According to a report, Leandro was found dead in his New York apartment when one of his friends went to check on him. Law enforcement also allegedly seized drugs and drug paraphernalia near his body. The investigation into Leandro’s death is currently under investigation.
