Queen Elizabeth II, the United Kingdom’s longest-reigning monarch, has died aged 96 in Scotland after ruling for 70 years. In a statement, Buckingham Palace confirmed the news that the Queen had died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. All her children had traveled to Balmoral after doctors placed the Queen under medical observation.
Condolences poured in from around the world for the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Bollywood celebrities like Riteish Deskhmukh, Celina Jaitly, Adnan Sami and others also expressed their grief over her demise.
“Deeply saddened to hear of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Her legacy as a woman alone is enough to stir a strange sadness in the heart. 15 prime ministers during her 70-year reign as British monarch. A life well spent in the service of her beloved nation,” Celina Jaitley tweeted.
Riteish Deshmukh wrote, “The end of an era!! During the most difficult times, she never let her dignity get the best of her. Today is a sad day indeed, condolences to the family and people of the United Kingdom.” Adnan Sami also took to Twitter to mourn the passing of the Queen of the United Kingdom.

Queen Elizabeth II’s reign has spanned 15 prime ministers, starting with Winston Churchill, born in 1874, and including Liz Truss, born 101 years later in 1975 and appointed by the Queen earlier this week, the BBC reported. She held weekly audiences with her prime minister during her tenure. The Queen was born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor in Mayfair, London, on 21 April 1926.
