AN EVENING FOR LATA MANGESHKAR

A host of celebrities reunited to remember the late iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar who has had an illustrious career in the music industry. From Lag Jaa Gale to Tere Liye, the singer has belted some soulful melodies that still resonate with music lovers. Raveena Tandon, who was honoured with Padma Sri recently took to Instagram and shared two pictures from the event, where she was joined by Asha Parekh, Hema Malini, and Kajol among others.

The pictures feature the two veteran actresses, Hema and Asha, seated while being decked up in silk sarees. Hema wore a green and silk saree, and Asha looked beautiful in a black saree. Both Jahol and Raveena stood behind them.

The late singer’s sister Usha Mangeshkar recently, in an interview with PTI, said how the entire family is still trying to come to terms with the music icon’s demise. “People are just coming home in her memory, remembering her. We are very sad even today. It’s all beyond sadness,” Usha told PTI.

LATA MANGESHKAR’S DEATH

Lata Mangeshkar had tested positive for Covid-19 and was hospitalised on January 8, 2022. She had mild symptoms then. However, her health condition worsened and she was put on a ventilator. Though she showed signs of improvement, her health deteriorated once again on February 5. On February 6, 2022, she bid us goodbye. She was cremated with full state honours. Lata Mangeshkar was fondly known as the Nightingale of India.
