Prince Harry Spare’s memoir finally went on sale at midnight in the UK – five days after it first leaked to the world in Spain and was widely quoted in the Duke’s round of TV interviews.
But although London stations including Victoria, Euston and Piccadilly opened late for the sales, fans appeared to have missed their first chance to snap up copies.
Some UK stores opened late for the midnight release of the biggest royal book since Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, collaborated with Andrew Morton on Diana: Her True Story in 1992.
The much-anticipated 416-page book will await buyers tomorrow morning and is on sale at half price for £14 at Waterstones, WH Smith and on Amazon.

Alternatively, the audiobook – narrated by Harry himself – is available for £7.99 on Audible.

But there seemed to be more press than customers anxiously awaiting the moment the book was available.
Just a handful of people waited outside WHSmith at Victoria Station, central London, to be among the first to buy a hardcover copy of the Duke of Sussex’s controversial memoir Spare.
The release comes after the Spanish edition of the book En La Sombra (“In the Shadow”) was leaked on February 5, despite ultra-secure agreements, and after a series of interviews with insiders.
It was pulled from the shelves within hours, but not before the world got access to its content detailing tensions between Harry and other members of the royal family and personal stories about the prince’s life.
The “explosive” pages include allegations of a physical altercation with his older brother Prince William at Nottingham Cottage in 2019, as well as a further disagreement shortly after the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral in 2021. Kate has also come under fire.
The Duke of Sussex described an altercation that ended with the Prince of Wales grabbing him by the collar and throwing him to the floor, smashing a dog bowl with his back.
Harry also includes personal stories, admitting to using drugs, having a frozen penis at William and Kate’s wedding and describing how he lost his virginity.
It is dedicated to his wife Megan, children Archie and Lilibeth and his late mother Diana and is published in 16 languages.

Copies of the bombshell memoir Spare are finally available to buy in the UK from midnight
He’s teamed up with Pulitzer-winning ghostwriter JR Moehringer to share his “raw and unflinching” story.
Spare is now available in the UK following a promotional blitz featuring two interviews with ITV’s Tom Bradby and CBS’s Anderson Cooper which aired yesterday.
Mr Bradby, a former royal correspondent and current ITV News at Ten presenter, is a friend of the Sussexes and previously interviewed them for a documentary about their 2019 tour of Africa.
The interview saw him alternate between answering Bradby’s questions and reading parts of his memoirs as he sensationally accused his family of being “complicit” in the “pain and suffering” caused to his wife and compared them to “rapists” .
And speaking to Anderson Cooper on US broadcaster CBS, he called Camilla a “villain” and “dangerous” – ignoring her father’s pleas not to attack her – and suggested there were still questions to be answered surrounding Diana’s death .
The family, particularly William and father King Charles III, will fear what other disturbing and dangerous revelations lie within its pages as the British media pick apart Harry’s claims in minute detail.
The book comes on the back of Netflix’s six-hour Harry and Meghan documentary series, in which the couple once again aired their grievances to the royal family and British media.

If the pair were hoping to drum up sympathy, recent polls suggest they’re having the opposite effect – at least in the UK.
A YouGov poll on Monday showed that 64 per cent now have a negative opinion of the once-popular ginger prince – his lowest ever – and that Meghan also scored poorly.
And after days of TV trailers and newspaper leaks, a relatively low figure of 4.1 million people watched the first of Harry’s interviews with Britain’s ITV, according to official ratings figures.
In the interview, the Duke of Sussex caused consternation by insisting that he and his mixed-race wife had never accused the royal family of racism over comments made about their unborn son’s skin tone.
– No I am not. The British press said that,” Harry said, adding that Meghan also did not call the royal family “racist.”
The initial accusation, made in a bombshell interview Harry and Meghan gave in March 2021 to US chat show host Oprah Winfrey, caused a transatlantic uproar.
The prince also admitted to CBS that he was “probably a bigot” before he met Meghan and blamed William and his wife Kate for never giving her a chance.
Harry claims he wants to be closer to his father and brother despite his lack of contact with them, but said the onus is on them, refusing to confirm whether he will attend Charles’ coronation in May.
Omid Scobi, Harry and Meghan’s friend and biographer, said the couple were likely to adopt a lower profile following the recent “soap opera”.
“I think we’re going to see by the end of this year a couple that pulls back from a lot of what we’ve seen in the last few months,” he told BBC radio.
