Protecting your communities and employees from gun violence
Megan Walsh, MD, MPH, FACP, serves as Chief Academic Officer for Hennepin Healthcare, a Level I adult trauma center, Level I pediatric trauma center, and acute care hospital in the heart of Minneapolis.
Walsh joined Hennepin in 2001, where he started as an intern, before rising to the C-suite in 2012, where he is the health system’s longest-serving C-suite executive.
In an episode of the HealthLeaders podcast, Walsh talks about the gun violence epidemic and how Hennepin is addressing community violence both inside and outside the organization’s walls, and she offers insights on leadership.

Denver Health’s retired CEO offers advice on overcoming barriers to leadership
Patricia Gabow, MD, MACP, has had a medical career spanning more than 50 years, and she is still working to improve health care in retirement.
Gabow was an academic nephrologist, physician leader and clinician, worked as a national health policy contributor, and served as CEO of the Denver Health and Hospital Authority for 20 years. She is also a professor emeritus at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
In an episode of the HealthLeaders podcast, Gabow talks about her incredible career journey and her book It’s Time for Women Healthcare Leaders: A Guide to the Journey, and she shares advice for women who want to break barriers and become leaders in healthcare.

Virtua’s CHRO discusses the evolution of HR
Rhonda Jordan, SHRM-SCP, hasn’t always worked in health care or human resources, but she certainly feels at home there.
Her passion is reflected in the many leadership recognitions she has received over the years, including several in 2022 alone. She was recently named one of Savoy Magazine’s 2022 Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America, and in November received the for Human Resources for Overall Contribution of the Human Resources Department of the Year Awards.
During a HealthLeaders podcast episode, Jordan talked about how the HR department has evolved during that time. She also spoke about Virtua’s many initiatives for the DEI workforce and the power of teamwork and shared advice for future leaders.

Alexandra Morehouse joined Banner Health, a not-for-profit health system headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, as Chief Marketing Officer in 2015.
Since then, she has not only secured a half-billion dollar digital transformation investment from Banner Health’s board of directors, but has implemented Banner’s first AI and machine learning platforms.

Northwell Health’s new vice president of public health advocacy
The first American woman vaccinated against COVID-19 with Pfizer and BioNTech’s vaccine was Sandra Lindsey, RN, MBA, DHSc, nurse manager at Northwell Health in New York. In recognition of this decision, she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Lindsey continues to be a vaccine advocate and recently became the health system’s vice president of public health advocacy, where she will help the organization educate underserved populations to better understand health.
In a recent podcast interview, Lindsey shared her experiences during the pandemic and provided insight into how her personal background has played a role in her professional life and what she aims to achieve in her new role.

Breaking down the complexity of healthcare with Anne Klibansky
Mass General Brigham, an integrated health system based in Boston, is a globally recognized research leader serving 1.5 million patients annually.
Ann Klibanski, PhD, serves as the health system’s president and chief executive officer, a role she assumed in 2019 after a seven-year tenure as the system’s chief academic officer. Prior to joining the system’s executive team, she was chief of the neuroendocrine division at Massachusetts General Hospital.
During a recent interview on the HealthLeaders podcast, Klibanski talked about the health system’s successful initiatives in 2022 and looked ahead to the future, discussing what models of care are needed for a successful patient-centered health system.
