Cristiano Ronaldo rocked the football world on Sunday night after news of his interview with Piers Morgan was first published in The Sun newspaper. The first half of the interview aired last night, so let’s recap what has already been posted.
Ronaldo said he was surprised by the lack of changes at Manchester United when he rejoined the club in the summer of 2021.
He said: “Pierce, to be honest, when I signed for Manchester United (for the second time) I thought everything had changed because it had been 13 years (since I was at the club).
“I was at Real Madrid for nine years and three at Juventus. And when I arrived, I thought everything would be different, the technology, the infrastructure and everything. But I was surprised, in a bad way, let’s say that way, because I saw that everything was the same.
“I was surprised. I thought when I signed, they would sign Sancho and Varane this year, plus me, that things would be the way Manchester should be
“At United there was zero progress in my opinion. Compared to Real Madrid and even Juventus, that they are following the rest of the world, so the technology, especially in terms of training, nutrition and conditions for proper nutrition and recovery better than before, surprised me. Manchester at the moment, to compare with this club, I think it’s backwards in my opinion, which is something that surprised me.
“A club of that size should be top of the tree in my opinion and they’re not, unfortunately. They are not at that level. But I hope in the coming years they will reach the highest level.
“I don’t know what’s going on, but since Sir Alex Ferguson left, I haven’t seen any evolution at the club, zero progress.”
