Pankaj Tripathi gets angry with Azamgarh makers; intends to take legal action for using his name for promotions: Reports: Bollywood News

Pankaj Tripathi is currently one of the few actors with multiple projects; from web series to movies. Recently, the acclaimed actor visited the National School of Drama (NSD) and interacted with the students at a session of Bharat Rang Mahotsav. He spoke to her about various topics including his experience in the industry, what struggling actors face while trying to make a mark in the industry and much more. Besides that, he is also making headlines for another reason as he wants to take legal action against the creators of Azamgarh.

For the inexperienced, Azamgarh is the feature film debut of National Award winner Kamlesh Mishra. In the film, Pankaj Tripathi plays a titular character of a Maulavi, who leads the youth to the path of terrorism. Reportedly, Pankaj saw the film’s billboards prior to its OTT release, and it apparently upset the actor. According to a report by Amar Ujala, Tripathi was told that this is a short film and only shot for three days.

While the makers use his name to promote the film as if he has a starring role in it, Pankaj does not want such “cheap popularity”. The report also added that the actor worked on this film without receiving any compensation. It is said that Tripathi does not want the makers to advertise Azamgarh by using his name and if they disagree he will take legal action against them. The actor feels like he’s playing a small role in the movie, and the way he’s portrayed in the poster is wrong.

However, it is worth noting that Tripathi has not issued any official statement on the matter so far.

Tripathi came to the professional front and was last seen in the third installment of his hit web series Criminal Justice. He has a lot of projects in his kitty including Subway In Dino, Fukrey 3And OMG 2, among other things.
