The promotional campaign of Ponniyin Selvan is now in full swing with both the cast and the director as the team is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the film creates awareness across the board. Naturally, along with multi-city promotional campaigns, media interactions also come thick and fast. During one of these interactions, Mani Ratnam recounted how Rekha was his first choice to play Nandini, the queen of Pajuvor when he first attempted to mount the epic project in 1994. In fact, he also admitted that there was no other actress in his mind until he finally decided to revisit history in the recent past.
