An independent fashion store, Amber, has opened at Five Valleys shopping centre in Stroud. Amber can be found on the edge of the Indoor Market within the former Redheart unit and is a a small shop with a large range of affordable women’s wear.

All clothing is made from natural fibres and with a slight boho feel, accompanied by a beautiful range of silk scarves. The new store will provide something fresh and different to the fashion offer already provided by Sandersons Boutique and menswear store, Cordells.

Owner, Edward Morris, previously had a fashion store in Stroud at the top of the High Street. He said: “I’m delighted to be returning to Stroud, the town is made for independents and the people are great and hugely supportive.

“I believe it’s the right time to open a fashion store here given this opportunity to be positioned in such a prominent location, benefiting from such high footfall.

“I’ve been very impressed with the way Five Valleys has been transformed. With the indoor food market and department store there’s been a lot of heart put into it rather than a completely corporate approach.”

Director for Dransfield Properties, Andrew Malley, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming back a former Stroud retailer to the town. We’ve listened to our shoppers and their requests for more affordable fashion and we feel that with Edward’s 40 years’ experience in retail and local knowledge, Amber will serve the local community well.”

Amber joins a growing portfolio of now three stores with Edward’s other shops based in Gloucester and Stow on the Wold. Amber will be open seven days a week and will create two new jobs for the area.

Next month The Tanning Room will open its doors and a further announcement on a second fashion operator joining the line-up this year is coming soon. This will mean the centre has only one unit remaining, as well as some opportunities left in the remaining three kiosks at the indoor market.

The triple fronted unit still to let is over 3,000 sq ft with storage and staff space combined and can be found opposite F. Hinds jewellers and next door to Home Bargains, benefiting from great passing footfall and a fully refurbished mall including new flooring and lighting.
